Case Studies

Client: Petroleum Refinery

Location: Northern California

Project Description

Provided mobile wastewater treatment services utilizing oil/water separation, chemical oxidation and reverse osmosis to treat approximately 2.5-million gallons of sour water contaminated with sulfides, COD and Ammonia. The wastewater was generated from many locations throughout the refinery and stored in one aboveground storage tank. The wastewater was treated and successfully discharged to an on-site wastewater treatment plant. All the wastewater was treated to comply with discharge limits required by the refinery. GEM MTS also performed vapor control on the processing equipment.

Permitting: Refinery Discharge requirements

Contaminants: Sulfides, COD, Ammonia

Equipment Used: Reverse osmosis, Chemical Oxidation, Oil water separation

Volume Treated: 2.5 Million Gallons

Cost Benefits: Tank Returned to service, significantly less than off site disposal
